Yayoi Kusama in het Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam
Kusama (1929-2026) begon haar carrière in de vroege jaren '50 in Japan en verhuisde later naar New York, waar ze in de jaren ‘60 een belangrijke rol speelde in de avant-garde bewegingen. In 1972 keerde ze terug naar Japan, waar ze tot haar dood werkte aan haar eigenzinnige oeuvre. Haar werk beslaat diverse kunstvormen, waaronder schilderkunst, beeldhouwkunst, performances, mode en literatuur.
Kusama (1929-2026) began her career in the early 1950s in Japan and later moved to
New York, where she played a significant role in the avant-garde
movements in the 1960s. In 1972 she returned to Japan, where she
worked on her distinctive oeuvre until her death. Her work spans diverse
art forms, including painting, sculpture, performances, fashion, and
literature.
